Who Founded PrepSeven?

PrepSeven was founded by Shankar Mutneja, an alumnus of The Doon School, Dehradun, and a Computer Science graduate. He built PrepSeven with one clear vision: to make genuinely high-quality IB education accessible to students anywhere in the world, delivered by educators and examiners who truly understand the curriculum.

The problem he set out to solve

Before starting PrepSeven, Shankar worked closely with students, parents and educators connected to leading International Baccalaureate schools around the world. The same pattern kept surfacing. Bright, hard-working students were putting in long hours and still falling short of the grades they were capable of. The missing piece was almost never effort. It was strategy, mentorship and access to teachers who knew, from the inside, how the IB actually rewards marks.

Most tutoring available to these families was generic. It could explain a topic, but it could not explain how an examiner reads a Paper 2 essay, how an IA is scored against each criterion, or how a predicted grade is really built. That insight sat almost entirely with IB examiners and senior coordinators, and it was out of reach for the average student. Shankar saw a way to change that.

From an idea to a global IB platform

That insight became the foundation of PrepSeven. Rather than launching yet another general tutoring service, Shankar built a platform dedicated exclusively to IB students, powered by a network of experienced IB educators and certified examiners who understand precisely how students are assessed.

Under his leadership, PrepSeven has grown from helping a small group of students into a dedicated IB learning platform that connects families with specialists across every part of the IB journey: subject tutoring, exam preparation, Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and university-focused academic mentoring. Leveraging a strong international network of IB educators and schools, he assembled a team united by a single goal, which is helping students genuinely master the IB rather than simply survive it.

The vision today

Shankar’s original ambition still drives the platform. PrepSeven is built to be the most trusted global partner for IB learning, giving every student, regardless of location, access to the kind of examiner-level guidance that used to be available only to a fortunate few. That founding belief, that expert IB support should be a right and not a privilege, remains the standard every PrepSeven tutor is held to.
